CANDLE CARE AND INSTRUCTIONS
When you first open your candle made by Saìnco Fragrances, it is important to have a read of these safety instructions:
- Before every burn (and including the very first burn) you should always, always trim your wick. The wick only needs to be approximately 6mm in length. Why? Triming the wick helps control the amount of “fuel” or wax that is present. By keeping the amount of fuel limited, the flame will create ideal complete combustion where carbon particles are absorbed by the flame. This means less soot is formed while the candle is burning. Trimmed wicks will give you a cleaner, brighter burn. Untrimmed wicks are a lot more likely to take on a weird mushroom-esque shape that dulls and obscures the flame.
- Ensure you burn your candle on a stable and heat resistant surface.
- Never burn your candle on or near anything that could catch fire. Keep away from drafts, water and moisture.
- Always keep wicks centred in the middle of the candle. Do not allow them to float to the sides of the glass the could lead to the glass overheating.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended. Ensure candle is completely extinguished before leaving the room.
- Keep your candle out of reach of children and pets.
- If you’re burning more than one candle at a time, leave at least 100mm (10cm) between candles.
- To begin, candles should burn one hour for every 25mm in diameter of the actual candle size. Therefore, a large Saìnco Fragrances Jar (455g - 100mm in diameter) should burn a minimum of 4 hours to liquefy the entire top layer of wax. This will prevent tunnelling (Saìnco Fragrances candles are made from natural soy wax, which does retain a memory). So ensure your wax pool reaches the edge of the glass on each burn. Do not burn for longer than four hours.
- Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours a time.
- To extinguish your candle, use a snuffer or blow it out gently. Do not use liquid or the lid to extinguish your candle.
- Before re-lighting your candle again, trim your wick.
- Extinguish and discard your candle when there is 10mm of wax or less remaining. We do not advise to continue burning your candle below this.
The most important thing to remember is that candles are a naked flame and they do need to be treated with caution and respect.
